"Arts that adorn our culture"
Mola Art began approximately 200 years ago, and since then the Kunas has been sewing molas, the designs are inspired by the fish, bird and nature, and the traditionals comes from what the womens listen in the singings of their chiefs, other molas are inspired on what they see every day, they use "sergan" which is the geometric figures around the theme, zig zag made out of the same fabric and other ideas to accent the subject on the mola.
According to Artemio Garcia, kuna merchant, the colors of these arts comes from their principal colors: the red, the black and orange.

Note: Panama was a very small country of about 2 million people, now a country of 3.2 million with all the people that are moving from Europe, Canada, USA, etc., it is true that is becoming more sophisticated, a growing country within Central America but the sad thing about Panama is that the groups of indigenous people are left behind, many communities like the Ngobe Bugles (Bocas del Toro and Veraguas), Nasos, Teribes are asking the goverment for help to improve tourism in their towns, because there is no way out to their crafts and is the only source of income for them and this is exactly why the sale of molas is so important for the women's of San Blas because it will open a door of opportunities for the Kuna people.
